POST GRADUATE STUDIES.

Hi, I'm here today to talk about my future study plans, or I'm going to try. I don't plan to continue studying as soon as I leave the University, mainly because of lack of money, I want first to be able to work and pay part of my debts that the University itself has generated.

Having been able to pay back part of the loan that the "CAE" made to me, I would like to study something related to the production of species for conservation and ecosystem restoration plans. As I mentioned before, I am very fascinated by the work in the nursery and I am very satisfied with this work. Although I would have to study in Chile, I don't rule out travelling to Argentina to broaden my knowledge of the whole southern cone, or if I can dream a little more (and the money allows me) to be able to travel to Brazil and broaden my knowledge of Latin American flora even more.

If I could choose, I would prefer to study at the same time as working, I know it's a big challenge but I think I'm capable, as this way I can quickly apply what I'm learning. Besides this way I could continue paying my debt with the "CAE" and allowing me some dreams that I want to fulfil.

MY FUTURE JOB.

As I mentioned in my previous blog, I am currently studying Forest Engineering and within the job possibilities that studying this gives me, I hope to be able to work in a forest nursery surrounded by all kinds of people who are contributing to the conservation of nature.

As I mentioned before, I don't like the idea of being behind a desk all my life and I think that working in a nursery combines a bit of both worlds of forestry, which is field work and research from an office. Maybe my job doesn't allow me to visit many places outside of Chile, but I don't really care about them. I am happy to travel around Chile and see all the wonders it has to offer. Money is another subject that does not interest me much either, if I wanted to earn large amounts of money I would have studied something else (as an accountant or auditor or economy xD), I am satisfied with the satisfaction of knowing that I am being a contribution both to the ecosystem and to future generations (I am also satisfied not having a boring office job).

I hope to pursue a specialization in conservation with a focus on native species, and I also hope to conduct research on the Chilean Palm (a species that has caught my attention since I started my degree) before or after I graduate.

Why I chose my career?

To start this blog, I must go back to when I was in high school. What I remember most from that time was that I wanted to be a civil industrial engineer (the truth is I only wanted to study that for the money), but the truth is that I didn't feel comfortable thinking that I would be all my life in a desk if I decided to study civil engineering. But one day everything changed in my favour when in a university fair I met the forestry engineering career (I have to add that all this happened in my last year of high school), this career had a lot of field work, a high future projection, a high social impact, and if we add my interest in nature (which at that time was just a hobby) it quickly became my main objective at that time.

The first time I gave the PSU forestry engineering was my first option, followed very closely by agronomy, which at that time had the same weight as forestry, but unfortunately I missed 1 point to be able to enter the University of Chile. The second time I had a lot more doubts, although I never doubted that my first option would continue to be Forestry Engineering. This time I applied for more things, such as accounting or a technical career, but this time I made more effort and managed to enter Forestry Engineering.

To this day I do not regret it, despite the doubts I have had in recent times, I have been able to meet a lot of wonderful people and most importantly I have not stopped enjoying my career.
